Engine Diagnostics & Digital Inspections

Dash light on? Odd vibration?

Before swapping parts, we let data lead the way.

This page explains what diagnostics actually are, why modern vehicles need them, and what you receive from a professional digital inspection at S&S Auto and Diesel.

A little more towards the bottom is our active blog where we will be posting about common diagnostic issues that are coming into the shop.

Diagnostics is the process of retrieving, interpreting, and verifying that data before repairs begin.

It prevents guess‑work and saves you from replacing parts that aren’t actually bad.

We will look for a diagnosis before repairing your vehicle, unless not necessary if the problems are clearly identifiable.

What Happens During a Digital Vehicle Inspection?

  1. Vehicle Walk‑Around

    • We begin with a visual check for leaks, damage, tire wear, and safety items. Photos are captured in real time.

  2. Connection & Data Capture

    • A factory‑level scan tool connects to your OBD‑II port. All DTCs, pending codes, and live sensor data are downloaded.

  3. Guided Tests

    • Based on initial codes, the technician performs targeted tests (voltage drop, smoke test, pressure test) to confirm root causes.

  4. Report & Severity Scoring

    • You receive a mobile‑friendly report with photos, videos, and a stoplight severity rating: Green = OK, Yellow = Monitor soon, Red = Address immediately.

  5. Q&A + Repair Plan

    • We walk you through findings, answer questions, and outline repair options—before any wrench is turned.
