Big news from the shop on NE 22nd Ave: S&S Auto and Diesel now sells tires.

For years, customers have asked us, "Can I just get my tires from you?" They'd call around town for a price, walk out of a quote shaking their head, and come back to us for everything else. So we started carrying tires, and we're pricing them the way we price everything else: fair, upfront, and explained before you pay.

Buy 4 tires from S&S in October and get a free 24-point alignment.

  • Good on tires only purchased and installed at S&S Auto and Diesel

New tires on a vehicle that's out of alignment wear out early, sometimes months early.


Pairing the two is how you get your money's worth out of the tires you just bought. We'd rather set you up right than sell you another set next year.


What's in the 24-point alignment

Our alignment isn't a quick "set the toe and send it." We use 4-wheel laser alignment equipment and check the parts that keep your vehicle tracking straight, including:

  • Camber, caster and toe on all four wheels

  • Tie rod ends, ball joints and steering linkage

  • Shocks, struts and suspension bushings

  • Tire pressure and tread condition on every tire

  • Steering wheel position after a road test


If we find a worn part, we'll show you a photo and explain it. You decide what to fix and when. No pressure, and nothing gets done without your OK.


How to tell you need tires

Not sure if it's time? Here are the signs we see most:

  • Tread at or below 4/32 of an inch. Put a quarter in the groove, Washington's head down. If you can see the top of his head, you're getting low.

  • Uneven wear. One edge worn smooth usually means an alignment problem.

  • Cracks in the sidewall. Texas heat is hard on rubber, even on tires with good tread.

  • Vibration at highway speed or pulling to one side.

  • Tires older than about 6 years, no matter how much tread is left.
