"Diesel" is in our name, so people ask us all the time: do you work on regular cars too?

Yes. S&S Auto and Diesel works on cars, pickups, SUVs, Jeeps, work trucks, diesels and older vehicles. Domestic or import, daily driver or ranch truck, bring it by. One customer put it better than we could in their Google review: "They work on everything not just diesels!!"

Here is what "we work on everything" means at our shop, and the promise that comes with it.

What we work on

Older truck on the lift to get tire alignment at S&S Auto and Diesel in Mineral Wells, TX

If it drives on a Mineral Wells road, there is a good chance we already have one like it in the bay this week.

  • Everyday cars and SUVs: sedans, minivans, crossovers, family SUVs

  • Pickups and work trucks: half-ton to heavy duty, gas or diesel

  • Diesel trucks: diagnostics, repairs and FASS fuel system upgrades

  • Jeeps: alignments, suspension and steering

  • Older and classic vehicles: the ones other shops turn away

And the work itself covers most of what a vehicle needs:

The week Jake lost his truck

A while back, a local rancher we'll call Jake came into our shop frustrated. He drives a 1995 Ford F-350 with the 7.3L Power Stroke. It isn't pretty, but it hauls feed and pulls trailers around his place near Graford.

When it started idling rough and losing power under load, he took it to a shop in a neighboring town that advertised diesel repair. Here is how that went:

  • Day 1: Drops the truck off. "We'll take a look and get back to you."

  • Day 3: Calls for an update. "Still diagnosing."

  • Day 5: Calls again. "Waiting on parts."

  • Day 7: Calls again. "Our guy will look at it tomorrow."

  • Day 8: "We don't really work on anything that old. Come pick it up."

Eight days, in the middle of hay season, for an answer that shop could have given him on day one.

That story is why we are so direct about what we will and won't take on. Your vehicle is how you get to work, haul for the ranch and get the kids to school. Holding it for a week without a straight answer isn't fair to you.

Our honest answer promise

When you ask "will you work on my...?", this is our answer:

Bring it by and let us take a look. We'll tell you within an hour whether we can help. If we can't, we'll point you to someone who can, with no charge and no holding your vehicle while we figure it out.

Before we take a job, we ask ourselves five questions:

  1. Do we have the right diagnostic equipment for this vehicle?

  2. Does our team have experience with this make, model and year?

  3. Can we get parts in a reasonable time?

  4. Are there any safety concerns?

  5. Can we stand behind the work?

If any answer is no, you hear it from us right away.

Why older vehicles don't scare us

Some shops avoid older vehicles because parts are harder to find or they don't want to learn an older system. We see it differently. Older vehicles often have simpler electronics and more straightforward mechanical problems, and they're usually easier to diagnose once you know what to look for. A well-kept older truck can run a long time, and we like helping it get there.

What you can expect when you call S&S

  • A straight answer fast on whether we can do the job

  • Photos of what we find, sent to you, so you can see the problem yourself

  • Same-day service on small repairs whenever we can make it happen

  • Updates along the way, including a call before any surprise costs

  • A NAPA-certified team that works on gas and diesel, cars and trucks

At S&S Auto and Diesel, we treat every vehicle like it belongs to a neighbor, because in Mineral Wells it probably does.
